Let's be civil about this.

We often hear in media, especially American ones, the phrase "Sue me." a taunt that informs the other individual that they should take their disagreement to court.

A tort is a civil wrong that has been committed, something that is in a different realm to a criminal case. For example, while the state may try to find a bag snatcher guilty for the crime of theft, the owner of the bag may sue the snatcher for damages, both physical and mental.

Tort cases are also the most common way that we can hold companies accountable for the wrongs they have committed. There's also the option of making a 'class-action' suit, meaning many people group up together to sue one entity.

Whether it be carcinogenic baby powder, fake tuna sandwiches or gross negligence amounting to death, the legal system is here for you to air your grievances, provided you have enough money.
